Reiner Gentz, Ph.D.


As Founder and President of Gentz and Gentz Consulting, Reiner has led the creation of this consulting company focusing on the challenges of a fast growing biotech and innovative pharmaceutical industry. Reiner is known for his ability to guide teams and complex projects to on-time and on-budget performance. He utilizes extensive life science expertise and knowledge of the sector to contribute to new product development processes.

Reiner has over 30 years of experience in both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

Before founding G&G he was a Senior Vice President at Human Genome Sciences, Inc. He was fully responsible for the process development and manufacturing of therapeutic proteins and antibodies from pre-clinical studies to Phase III clinical trials. He managed the departments of Cell Culture, Fermentation, Purification, Formulation & Stability and Analytical Development. He was responsible for the design, construction, staffing and validation of various clinical production suites, pilot plants and a commercial manufacturing facility.

Prior to Human Genome Sciences, Reiner was a Senior Scientist and Scientific Specialist at Hoffmann La Roche working in Switzerland and New Jersey. He developed highly efficient expression systems and novel purification methods for proteins. Reiner produced many proteins for small molecule screenings, vaccine development and diagnostic tests.

Reiner holds a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He published over 100 scientific publications and is an inventor of over 200 approved patents in a variety of countries.





Solange Gentz, Ph.D.


As a co-Founder and Director of G&G, Solange is managing all projects involving eukaryotic cell culture. She is also responsible for customer relations.

Solange has over 20 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and in research institutions.

Prior to G&G Solange worked for ten years in the US at Human Genome Sciences Inc., Medimmune, Inc. and Life Technologies, Inc.

As the Manager of Antibody Expression at HGS she was responsible for the generation of stable cell lines producing therapeutic proteins and monoclonal antibodies for clinical studies and commercial manufacturing. In addition she worked with various expression systems, developed and optimized protocols for high through put screening using various cell lines.

Solange holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, a Master degree in Microbiology from UFMG, and a BS in Biology from the Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG)





Alex DeSeabra


Alex has over twenty years experience in the biotechnology industry and has been consulting for G&G since 2011. He has a range of experience that includes international business development, biopharmaceutical and biomedical manufacturing, project financing experience, and start-up experience.

Before joining G&G, he founded the Maryland-based biopharmaceutical company, BioFactura, Inc. and started up US operations for TiGenix NV in Memphis, TN.

Alex has manufactured over his career 12 biologic products at various companies that are licensed as active pharmaceutical ingredients or in clinical trials. He has also started up and commissioned numerous cGMP biopharmaceutical and biomedical manufacturing facilities.

Alex holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
